Overview
Kristin Halsing provides advice and counsel to employers of all sizes and across a variety of industries. She advises clients regarding varied employment issues, including:
- Compliance with California employment and labor laws
- Complex multistate employment policies (particularly regarding sick leave, time off, and leaves of absence)
- Federal, state, and local wage-and-hour laws
- Employee and independent contractor classification issues
- Noncompetition, nonsolicitation, and other employee mobility issues
- Hiring onboarding practices, including drug tests and background checks and arbitration agreements
- Workplace restructuring and reductions in force
- Internal and external employment-related investigations
- Employment-related concerns in corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions
Practical Employment Counseling & Risk Management
Kristin also strategically advises employers on day-to-day employment issues ranging from terminations, leaves of absence and accommodations, and performance management.
When counseling clients, Kristin relies on her experience litigating high-stakes employment claims to provide practical, business-minded advice and risk assessment. She is particularly well versed in the intricacies of complying with California employment laws to avoid costly litigation in California state and federal court.
Prior Experience
During law school, Kristin served as judicial extern to the Honorable Ming W. Chin at the Supreme Court of California.
Personal Interests
In her spare time, Kristin enjoys watching musical theater around California and on Broadway, becoming too invested in entertainment awards shows, traveling whenever she can, and rooting for the San Francisco Giants. She also sings with the Los Angeles Lawyers Philharmonic and Legal Voices.
