Overview

Our Commodity and Derivative Financial Products team delivers practical, business-focused legal advice for clients navigating the complexities of commodity and derivatives markets. We support hedge funds, asset managers, private equity funds, mutual funds, trading firms, institutional investors, borrowers, and commercial end users across the full life cycle of financial transactions.

Our practice includes structuring and negotiating derivatives documentation for swaps, options, forwards, bespoke structures, and notes. We also advise on regulatory compliance and documentation including for Dodd-Frank, EMIR, and UK EMIR. We help clients with a range of asset classes including interest rate, foreign exchange, equity, credit, commodities, and digital asset derivatives as well as ISDA master agreements, regulatory credit support annexes, and protocols.

Clients choose us because we combine deep industry knowledge with regulatory insight, bringing insiders' perspectives from experience working in trading firms and advising a wide range of clients on complex matters. We also communicate on behalf of our clients with agencies and exchanges such as the CFTC, NFA, SEC, CME, NYSE, and FERC.

We are trusted to solve challenges in emerging sectors such as environmental credits, hydrogen, and digital assets. Our team is known for efficient documentation and negotiation of ISDA, repurchase, prime brokerage, and trading agreements, as well as for developing compliance programs and guiding clients through regulatory exams and investigations. We help clients launch trading platforms, manage investment strategies, hedge risk, and resolve disputes — all with a practical approach that balances commercial goals and regulatory requirements. Our track record shows that we help clients advance their goals in complex, high-stakes transactions and regulatory matters, making us the go-to firm for those seeking trusted counsel in derivatives and other financial products.
