Overview
Norman Pentelovitch is a trial lawyer and former in-house enterprise-risk leader who helps companies navigate high-risk litigation, investigations, and corporate crises around the world. Clients value Norm's ability to translate complicated legal problems into practical business decisions and align individual case tactics with long-term strategic objectives. Norm's in-house experience means that he understands what business leaders and corporate legal departments need from counsel: early and candid risk assessments, clear strategic guidance, practical advice, and no surprises.
Norm brings nearly two decades of experience litigating in state and federal courts throughout the country to represent parties in complex commercial litigation, cross-border disputes, product liability and mass tort litigation, multidistrict litigation, class actions, government enforcement matters, and internal investigations. His in-house experience as international coordinating counsel makes him particularly effective when a matter spans continents or requires coordination among numerous internal and external stakeholders.
Commercial Litigation and Cross-Border Disputes
Norm represents companies in complex commercial disputes involving significant financial, operational, and reputational exposure. He works closely with business leaders and in-house legal teams before litigation begins, to assess risk, preserve strategic options, and prevent a disagreement from escalating into a larger dispute when possible. When a dispute escalates to litigation, Norm is a fierce courtroom advocate, developing strategies accounting for both the legal merits and the commercial realities of the case.
Norm also has extensive experience managing cross-border litigation, investigations, and regulatory matters, particularly in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. He helps companies respond to the expansion of collective redress systems outside the United States, follow-on litigation in foreign jurisdictions, government enforcement actions, and disputes involving multiple legal systems. His approach integrates litigation strategy, business operations, and reputational considerations into a coordinated strategy aligned among all stakeholders.
Product Liability, Mass Torts, and Multidistrict Litigation
Norm has extensive experience managing mass tort and MDL matters involving personal injury, property damage, consumer protection claims, environmental issues, and state attorney general actions. His experience encompasses both individual cases and broader litigation portfolios in which decisions made in one jurisdiction may affect litigation, regulatory proceedings, or business operations elsewhere.
Investigations, Enforcement, and Crisis Response
Norm helps companies navigate internal investigations, government inquiries, regulatory enforcement matters, and other sensitive situations that may expose an organization to legal, financial, or reputational harm. He has participated in numerous internal and FCPA investigations involving witnesses, investigation teams, and stakeholders across multiple countries.
Because litigation often intersects with reputational risks, Norm’s experience working with C-suite executives and enterprise-level crisis-management teams allows him to integrate legal strategy with operational planning, stakeholder management, and communications considerations. When appropriate, Norm works with internal and external media relations professionals to develop communications strategies relating to active litigation and other legal issues. He also has experience serving as a spokesperson in media interviews.
Personal Interests
Outside of work, Norm enjoys camping, hiking, rock climbing, SCUBA diving, and playing drums.

Leadership & Community
Pro Bono
Norm has maintained an active pro bono practice throughout his career, representing indigent clients, survivors of domestic violence, and immigrants fleeing persecution.
He served as co-lead class counsel in Esparza v. Nobles County, a civil-rights class action challenging a county's practice of continuing to detain immigrants for federal immigration authorities after they were entitled to release under state law. The Minnesota Court of Appeals upheld an order halting the challenged detentions, and the case ultimately resulted in a permanent injunction and monetary settlement.
Norm also contributed to the Minnesota State Bar Association's Rule of Law Amicus Brief Team during Operation Metro Surge. The team represented the MSBA as amicus in two federal lawsuits concerning rule-of-law issues and received the association's 2026 President's Award for its work.
International Service
Before law school, Norm lived in Cambodia and worked with a nongovernmental organization supporting the international tribunal prosecuting former Khmer Rouge leaders. His work examined how the tribunal could communicate more effectively with communities affected by the Khmer Rouge regime and informed his scholarship on outreach at international criminal tribunals.
