Overview

Roger Maldonado partners with clients to find effective, efficient solutions to complex finance and restructuring issues by providing strategic legal counsel on a full range of financial matters. Roger represents corporate trustees, creditors, equipment lease lenders, investment firms and large financial institutions in state and federal courts, including bankruptcy court. He is an experienced navigator of complex issues in bankruptcy law, equipment leasing issues, receiverships, and related commercial and financial litigation. Roger’s bankruptcy practice also includes defending preference and fraudulent conveyance actions in bankruptcy cases and on bankruptcy-related issues.
Roger also represents trustees, master servicers, securities administrators and other parties to troubled asset-backed securities (ABS), residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS), collateralized debt obligations (CDOs), collateralized loan obligations (CLOs), and other structured product transactions. These matters typically include disputed transaction administration issues and claims by and against the trustees and other parties, RMBS repurchase claim litigation and settlements, trust instruction proceedings and other matters.

Other Experience

During law school, Roger completed an externship with the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota. Roger serves as a captain in the Minnesota Army National Guard. A combat veteran, he served in two military deployments in Iraq.

Personal Interests

Athletics was a major part of Roger’s life growing up, so it is no surprise that he enjoys watching and attending Vikings and Timberwolves games. He also participates in CrossFit, including CrossFit competitions. Roger also enjoys traveling and walks along Minneapolis’ beautiful lakes with his family.
