Overview
Corporate/Regulatory Counsel
Dick provides strategic counsel on corporate structure and alternatives, transactions, investments, products, regulatory compliance, risk management, market conduct, and reinsurance. Dick also represents insurance companies of all types, health maintenance organizations, third-party administrators, agents, brokers, investment banks, individuals and others before state insurance departments on corporate and regulatory matters.
Insolvencies
Dick also practices in the area of insurance company rehabilitations and liquidations, including representation of the National Organization of Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Associations in many multistate life, annuity and health company insolvencies. Dick also works with insurance companies and other entities concerning troubled companies.
In-House Counsel Experience
From March 1998 to December 1999, Dick served as the Interim General Counsel of Indianapolis Life Insurance Company. From January 1, 2000, to July 31, 2001, he served as Indianapolis Life Insurance Company's Senior Vice President, Chief Administrative and Legal Officer. At Indianapolis Life, Dick led Indianapolis Life's demutualization and combination with AmerUs Group Co. and acted as the CEO's chief-of-staff. Drawing on that experience, Dick has provided strategic counsel to insurance company management and boards of directors.
