Diversity and Inclusion: Ideals, Initiatives and Implementation

Overview

Chicago partner David Williams moderated and Chicago associate Cindy Irani introduced a panel, which included Philadelphia chief diversity officer and counsel, Maria Lewis; McDonald’s senior counsel in global labor and employment law, Suheily Natal Davis; Exelon’s associate general counsel, Ryan Harding; and CDW’s advocate and senior manager of supplier diversity, Kristin Malek, on “Diversity & Inclusion: Ideals, Initiatives and Implementation” on May 16, 2019, in Chicago as part of Drinker Biddle’s 2nd Annual Diversity and Inclusion CLE Event.

The panelists discussed building diversity and inclusion through:

  • Hiring that aspires to representation of the community around us
  • Retention and promotions that advance representation of the surrounding community in each organizational level
  • Inclusive corporate culture, where all experiences and respectful viewpoints are welcomed and cultivated
  • Diversity of outside vendors, seeking equal access to opportunities for vendors who are representative of our communities
