Faegre Drinker Launches Cross-Service National Security Team

Faegre Drinker announced today the launch of the firm’s national security team, an interdisciplinary group aimed at helping U.S.-based and global companies navigate complex national security-related risks.

The team is comprised of a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary group of attorneys with decades of combined knowledge, experience and relationships at the United States Departments of Justice, Treasury, Commerce, Homeland Security, Defense and the Intelligence Community, as well as significant understanding of government programs and appropriations. The team covers all facets of national security issues, including government contracts, trade and sanctions compliance, cybersecurity, criminal and national security-related internal investigation and corporate compliance. Proficient in handling sensitive issues and data for clients in national security and adjacent businesses, the national security team works to understand the nuances and sensitivities of clients’ businesses and the challenges they face.

“Our clients face unprecedented national security risks that demand both specialized knowledge and practical solutions,” said co-leader Jessica Abrahams. “We have outstanding lawyers with deep roots in government contracts, data privacy and cybersecurity, trade and sanctions, government investigations and white collar defense, and corporate transactional work, and who understand the challenges and nuances of national security-related issues. By launching this team, we continue to embrace Faegre Drinker’s commitment to collaboration and ensuring that clients across industries have access to counsel who understand the complexities they face on the national and international stage and who address those challenges in a strategic and holistic manner.”

The cross-service group of attorneys offers a cohesive, full-picture service, including compliance and risk-evaluation, corporate transfers and acquisitions, internal investigations, regulatory representation, and, if necessary, litigation aimed at minimizing risk, all tailored to the needs of national and international clients. “This team is committed to helping organizations remain resilient and compliant in a constantly shifting global landscape,” said co-leader Craig Heeren. “Whether navigating OFAC guidance, responding to foreign-directed cybercrime, implementing controls for sensitive or classified information, ensuring compliance with defense contractor regulations, interfacing with National Security Division of the Department of Justice, or evaluating the risks of acquiring a foreign business, this team offers comprehensive support at each stage to empower clients to operate securely and confidently.”

The national security team offers focused support in the areas of government contracts, cybersecurity, litigation, financial and corporate services, criminal law, and regulatory affairs.
