Overview

Our attorneys offer demonstrated national leadership in handling the core issues impacting the education industry. We provide counsel to educational institutions, including postsecondary institutions and other educational providers, educational services companies, and financial institutions and investors on a wide range of issues impacting both K-12 and higher education, including regulatory, transactional and public policy matters. We advise institutions of higher education on federal and state regulatory matters, including Title IV student financial aid requirements; accreditation and state authorization matters; compliance reviews, investigations and administrative appearances before the U.S. Department of Education and other federal agencies; and Title IX policy compliance and litigation. We also assist accrediting agencies on matters pertaining to the federal recognition process and the development and administration of their standards and procedures.

We represent educational institutions, educational services companies, financial institutions and investors on transactional matters, including ensuring that such transactions comply with applicable regulatory considerations. We are routinely engaged on mergers and acquisitions and other complex transactions involving schools, colleges, universities and other educational organizations. With a robust presence in Washington, D.C., and strong relationships with government agencies at both the federal and state level, we analyze and track both legislative and regulatory developments and work closely with lawmakers and agency staff on education policy issues. We also provide educational institutions with a broad range of legal services, including advising on matters pertaining to student affairs, labor and employment, real estate, corporate and intellectual property matters, data privacy and security, and litigation at all levels of federal and state courts.
