Thomas J. Kelly, Jr.

Senior Counsel

Overview

Thomas Kelly leverages formidable trial experience to defend corporations, directors and officers, employees and individuals in high-profile white collar criminal and administrative matters throughout the United States. As a former assistant U.S. attorney, Tom tried more than 35 jury trials — experience that benefits clients during Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) investigations and cases involving procurement fraud allegations, the False Claims Act, environmental crimes and workplace safety regulations.

White Collar Defense

For 30 years, Tom has represented Fortune 500 energy and oil companies in fighting environmental criminal and workplace safety charges, among others, throughout the United States. He has come to the defense of energy companies, shipping companies, environmental laboratories, pharmaceutical makers, banking and nonbanking financial services companies, and government contracting organizations. Tom was trial counsel to a pipe manufacturing company in one of the first worker safety prosecutions ever brought by the U.S. Department of Justice.

International Investigations

Tom provides extensive experience in international matters, having directed or conducted corporate investigations in Russia, India, Great Britain, China, France and Switzerland on behalf of businesses, financial institutions and the World Bank.

Regulatory Investigations

When companies and executives face regulatory investigations, Tom represents them before the various agencies, including the Federal Trade Commission, the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and the U.S. Postal Service.
