Overview

Jacob is an attorney focusing in health care and regulatory compliance, bringing valuable, hands-on experience to the table. He is dedicated to offering strategic counsel to health care organizations, hospitals and health technology companies, with a focus on understanding and navigating the complex health care landscape.

Professional Experience

Jacob has played a critical role in various transactions, ranging from small-scale deals to larger health care industry mergers and acquisitions. From overcoming regulatory hurdles, to leading diligence processes, to drafting transactional and ancillary documents, Jacob provides as much versatility as he does value to both buyers and sellers.

Jacob also helps clients navigate regulatory compliance challenges. His representative experience includes:

  • Counseling providers on issues related to the Physician Self-Referral Law, the Anti-Kickback Statute and other fraud and abuse laws.
  • Advising health care companies and practitioners on issues relating to telemedicine, including foreign qualification and interstate licensure.
  • Representing Durable Medical Equipment providers in a Medicare Recovery Audit Program defense matter.
  • Assisting health care companies in the development and implementation of compliance program and related policies.

Jacob also brings unique experience in the senior living and care space. In addition to actively participating in Faegre Drinker’s senior living and care segment, he assists clients on transactional, compliance, regulatory and licensing matters for independent living facilities, assisted living facilities, continuing care retirement communities, skilled nursing facilities, home health providers and hospices. This work is informed by his role on the Board of Directors of a dementia-care assisted living facility in his community.

Prior Experience

Prior to law school, Jacob worked with a Minnesota nonprofit dedicated to health care access for uninsured individuals and families. He leveraged his professionally proficient Spanish language skills to engage Spanish speakers and advocate on their behalf to lawmakers, developing the organization’s public policy program from the ground up. He lobbied at the Minnesota State Capitol regarding the Affordable Care Act, Medicaid and public program technology systems.
