Jacob Hauschild
Associate
Overview
Jacob Hauschild advises clients across the health care industry on a balanced mix of transactional and regulatory matters, offering a unique blend of experience and versatility that adds value throughout the deal lifecycle. He has strong capabilities across strategic transactions and compliance, with a growing emphasis on complex health care deals. Jacob’s practical and proactive approach positions him as a trusted resource for clients navigating sensitive transactions and regulatory challenges.
Strategic Transactions
Jacob has played a critical role in a wide range of transactions, from early-stage investments to major mergers and acquisitions in the health care sector. In addition to offering regulatory knowledge and insight, he leads deal work itself, driving diligence, coordinating closing processes, and drafting and negotiating both primary deal documents and ancillary agreements. He supports both buyers and sellers, with a particular focus on helping clients identify and mitigate regulatory risks embedded in transactions.
Health Care Regulatory & Compliance
Jacob counsels providers and health care companies on a variety of regulatory and compliance matters, including the Physician Self-Referral Law (Stark Law), the Anti-Kickback Statute, and related state and federal fraud and abuse laws. His practice includes supporting clients in structuring compliant business arrangements, developing internal compliance programs and policies, and navigating regulatory risks across clinical operations, contracting, and corporate governance.
Senior Living & Care
As co-deputy leader of the firm’s senior living and care team, Jacob brings dedicated insight to transactional, regulatory, compliance and licensure matters affecting the full continuum of care — including independent living, assisted living, continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs), skilled nursing facilities, home health agencies and hospices. He advises on both operational and structural issues, including regulatory due diligence and licensing approvals in the context of acquisitions and reorganizations, and has extensive experience preparing residency agreements, escrow agreements, legal opinions and related regulatory filings to support clients through closing and post-transaction integration. His insight is also shaped by his service on the Board of Directors of a local dementia-care assisted living facility, where he helps guide governance and compliance matters in a real-world care setting.
Prior Experience
Prior to law school, Jacob worked with a Minnesota nonprofit dedicated to health care access for uninsured individuals and families. He leveraged his professionally proficient Spanish language skills to engage Spanish speakers and advocate on their behalf to lawmakers, developing the organization’s public policy program from the ground up. He lobbied at the Minnesota State Capitol regarding the Affordable Care Act, Medicaid and public program technology systems.
Personal Interests
Outside of the office, Jacob enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, playing chess, running in Minnesota State Parks, and reading fiction novels.
