Overview

Owyn Ferguson helps clients maximize the value of their technology and intellectual property assets, drawing on his entrepreneurial background to deliver practical, business-focused solutions.

Commercial Contracts

Owyn structures, drafts, negotiates, and reviews commercial agreements with a focus on intellectual property and technology. He regularly advises on a wide variety of agreements, including patent and trademark licenses, software licenses, terms of use, supply and collaboration agreements, and contracts involving artificial intelligence and data use. He advises clients across industries, with particular depth in health care IT, including large-scale EHR licensing and hosting transactions. His work supports both licensors and licensees in securing and leveraging IP assets within complex commercial relationships.

M&A

Owyn leads intellectual property and technology legal due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions. He also drafts and negotiates the intellectual property and technology aspects of agreements in connection with these transactions.

Prior Experience

Before joining the firm, Owyn managed a student program at the University of Notre Dame’s entrepreneurship and technology commercialization center. He also interned at the law school’s IP clinic, and did a consultancy for a FinTech company, advising them on fundraising and AI integration. Before law school, he started a company that launched a successful Kickstarter campaign.

Personal Interests

Owyn enjoys attending concerts around the Twin Cities and competing in endurance races and rec-league sports.
