Overview

Katherine Budge takes a robust, pragmatic, and commercial approach to advising on an extensive range of contentious and noncontentious matters for employers with operations in the UK, US, EU, and globally.

Employment Counseling

She provides practical support across the employment life cycle, including drafting employment contracts, contractor agreements, workplace policies, staff handbooks, and settlement agreements. Katherine also advises on disciplinary and grievance procedures, redundancies, employee exits, contractual variation exercises, restrictive covenants, permanent health insurance matters, and data subject access requests (DSARs).

Employment Transactions, International, and Cross Border

Katherine counsels on the employment aspects of corporate transactions as well as day-to-day workforce management. For international acquisitions, she advises on matters arising under the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations (TUPE) and helps clients navigate workforce issues.

In addition to her UK practice, Katherine regularly coordinates employment law advice for clients with international operations. She works closely with overseas counsel to help businesses manage employment processes and employee relations issues across multiple jurisdictions.

Employment Disputes and Litigation

Katherine advises employers on a breadth of employment disputes, including unfair, wrongful, and constructive dismissals; discrimination; whistleblowing; restrictive covenants; and matters arising under TUPE.

She also represents employers in High Court disputes involving restrictive covenants and other post-termination obligations.

HR Compliance and Training

She helps employers navigate evolving workplace obligations and develop practical policies and procedures that support compliance and reduce risk. She regularly delivers tailored training for HR teams, managers, and business leaders on key employment law topics, including workplace harassment, investigations, recruitment, and employee relations issues.

Katherine also advises clients on emerging regulatory developments, including the implementation of the EU Pay Transparency Directive, helping businesses understand their obligations and prepare for change.
