New California Employment Laws for 2022: What Employers Need to Know to Navigate the Regulatory Maze
Faegre Drinker labor and employment partner Mark Terman authored an article for the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) that offered an overview of the many bills signed into law in 2021, bringing more rules and risks for employers in California.
Terman outlined elements of key California Assembly Bills and Senate Bills affecting private employers dealing with COVID-19, workplace safety, wage and hour rules, worker classification, working conditions, leaves of absence, posters, Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) matters, settlements and non-disparagement agreements, and wage rates.
In conclusion, Terman noted that employers should consider how these new laws impact their business and workplace. He also recommended reviewing and updating personnel and document retention policies and practices with experienced attorneys or human resource professionals.
