Drinker Biddle Advises Advocate Health Care in Merger with Aurora Health Care

Drinker Biddle’s Health Care Team advised Advocate Health Care in its proposed merger with Aurora Health Care, which would create the 10th largest not-for-profit, integrated health care system in the U.S. The combined health system, Advocate Aurora Health, will serve nearly three million patients annually in communities across Illinois and Wisconsin and have an annual revenue of approximately $11 billion. It will operate 27 hospitals and more than 500 other health care sites, and employ more than 3,300 physicians and nearly 70,000 associates and caregivers.

Led by partners Doug Swill, Linda Moroney and Ken Vorrasi and associates Jane Ro, Eric Berman and Krissy Laubach, Drinker Biddle’s team represented Advocate in all aspects of the transaction. Partners Sarah Millar and Cristin Obsitnik and associate Monica Novak from the firm’s Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Group also assisted with the deal.

The deal is pending regulatory approval, with closing expected in mid-2018.

More information about the merger can be found on Advocate Health Care’s website.
