Overview

Tristan Verghese provides strategic guidance and support to clients as they navigate the regulatory complexities of the insurance industry.

Prior Experience

Before joining the firm, Tristan gained experience in both private practice and public interest settings, with a particular focus on federal Indian law, litigation and immigration matters. As a research assistant to Dean Kevin Washburn at the University of Iowa College of Law, he contributed to scholarship on tribal sovereignty, tribal bond financing and the Land Back Movement and assisted in updating Cohen’s Handbook of Federal Indian Law.

As a student clinician with the University of Iowa Clinical Law Programs, Tristan managed cases in immigration, civil litigation and employment law, representing clients in court, drafting pleadings and conducting “Know Your Rights” trainings for local immigrant communities.

He served as a summer associate with the firm in 2023 and 2024; he drafted motions and client alerts across a range of practice areas, including product liability, intellectual property, and labor and employment law, and supported pro bono asylum matters.

Prior to law school, Tristan spent some time touring professionally as a musician and had the opportunity to play on several national tours.

Outside of the office, Tristan enjoys playing guitar and bass to his favorite songs, training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and hiking in the Rocky Mountains.
