Overview
Alec Harris litigates complex commercial disputes across the United States. Pharmaceutical manufacturers and other large health and life sciences companies seek out Alec for their most challenging and high-stakes cases, including False Claims Act (FCA) matters and large-scale commercial disputes. Alec also handles large commercial disputes on behalf of clients in a wide range of other industries, including FinTech, telecommunications, consumer packaged goods, manufacturing, agriculture, finance, digital advertising, retail and hospitality, and high-tech.
False Claims Act Litigation
Alec is a trusted defender of some of the world’s largest pharmaceutical and life sciences companies in litigation involving the federal FCA and similar state whistleblower statutes. He regularly litigates multimillion-dollar FCA cases involving allegations of health care fraud asserted by the US Department of Justice, state attorneys general, and private relators.
Health Care Litigation
Alec represents some of the nation’s largest health care companies in their most difficult, large-scale commercial disputes. These matters often involve huge damages sums, complex facts, and nuanced interplay with the nation’s health care laws and regulations.
Complex Commercial Litigation
Alec counsels clients in a variety of complex business disputes, including trade secret litigation, breach of contract claims, disputed business acquisitions, contested joint venture agreements, litigation among and within closely held limited liability companies, indemnification disputes, bid-rigging lawsuits, receivership disputes, unfair competition, and other business torts. He regularly represents clients in federal and state courts across the country.
Prior Experience
Before joining Faegre Drinker, Alec was a litigation partner at a national law firm with offices in Denver, Colorado. Alec also previously worked as a staff attorney at Harvard Law School’s Predatory Lending and Consumer Protection Clinic, as a fellow assistant attorney general at the Colorado Attorney General’s Office, and as a law clerk with the Colorado Supreme Court.
Personal Interests
Outside the office, Alec enjoys rock climbing, biking, motorcycles, skiing, and spending time with his family.

Pro Bono
Alec has an active pro bono practice. In the past, he has served as co-counsel with the ACLU of Colorado in a precedent-setting case to protect Colorado tenants, worked with the Korey Wise Innocence Project to evaluate possible cases of wrongful conviction, helped a minority-owned small business escape a predatory lease, and represented dozens of low-income students of for-profit colleges seeking student loan forgiveness.
