Overview

Shazell Archer represents financial institutions and corporate trust clients on a range of corporate trust transactions. She has also represented lenders, borrowers, issuers, underwriters, and originators across the structured finance market, with experience involving residential mortgage loans, SBA 7(a) loans, single-family rental loans, consumer loans, merchant cash advances and receivables, and timeshare loans.

Corporate Finance & Corporate Trust

Shazell advises financial institutions and corporate trust clients on a range of corporate trust transactions, including reviewing, negotiating, and drafting complex agreements and assisting with pre- and post-closing procedures on corporate debt issuances and structured finance transactions involving corporate trustees and agents. Her work spans transactions involving residential mortgage-backed securities, asset-backed securities, and related finance facilities.

Prior Experience

Before joining Faegre Drinker, Shazell was an associate in the structured finance group at a national law firm, where she represented multinational financial institutions, investment banks, insurance providers, and alternative investment managers in securitizations, warehouse and repurchase facilities, participation agreements, forward flow financing facilities, mortgage loan purchase agreements, and redemptions and wind-downs across diverse asset classes. She worked on transactions ranging from approximately $44 million to more than $1 billion in aggregate.

Personal Interests

In her free time, Shazell enjoys exploring personal finance, traveling, taking long walks, and discovering new foods and cuisines.

Leadership & Community

Pro Bono

Shazell has reviewed potential wrongful conviction cases for the Georgia Innocence Project and conducted research to build a county-level database across nine states for VoteRiders, a nonprofit that assists transgender voters with name changes needed to register to vote. She is committed to directing her pro bono practice toward providing services and support to underserved communities.

Civic Activities

Shazell is active in mentoring and recruiting. She has served as a recruiting volunteer at Fordham University School of Law and as an associate mentor to summer associates, first-year associates, and lateral associates. At her prior firm, she was a member of the diversity committee.
