London corporate partner Richard Tall spoke with Mergemarket to discuss the rapid growth of Europe’s defense sector, with investors increasingly focused on AI-driven defense equipment manufacturers.

“Modern innovative defense systems are high on the investor agenda. Any asset related to electronic warfare, including innovative communication systems and, crucially, systems that continue when GPS has failed, are highly attractive,” Tall explained.

Tall noted that countries are rapidly adapting their defense systems, creating strong demand for companies that can deliver capabilities quickly. "Autonomy is the cornerstone of existing and future defense strategies, not just the equipment but how it is used as it is not as simple as plug and play.”
