Fred Reish Comments on DOL Final ESG Rule With Financial Advisor Magazine

In “New DOL Rule Lowers Trump-Era ESG Barriers,” Financial Advisor Magazine turned to benefits and executive compensation partner Fred Reish for his input on the United States Department of Labor’s final environmental, social and governance (ESG) rule titled “Prudence and Loyalty in Selecting Plan Investments and Exercising Shareholder Rights.”

Reish explained that at the heart of the 200-page rule is language that clarifies that a fiduciary’s duty of prudence must be based on factors that they reasonably determine are relevant to risk and return analysis and that such factors may include the economic effects of climate change and other ESG considerations.
