Brad Campbell Quoted by Pensions & Investments on Expected DOL Final ESG Rule in 2022

In “Abundance of rules to be on docket for coming year,” Pensions & Investments turned to benefits and executive compensation partner Brad Campbell for insight on how a final ESG rule is expected to be published by the Department of Labor (DOL) in the first half of 2022.

According to the publication, the DOL proposed an environmental, social and governance (ESG) rule in Oct. 2021 “that climate change and other ESG factors are often material and that in many instances fiduciaries … should consider climate change and other ESG factors in the assessment of investment risks and returns.”

Campbell said the DOL “could do some changes around the margins, but I don’t see any fundamental change in the approach they’re taking, likely in the final rule.”
