Arbitrating in the FINRA Forum: Issues and Strategies

Florham Park partner Sandy Grannum discussed “Arbitrating in the FINRA Forum: Issues and Strategies” at the American Bar Association’s Women in Litigation Joint Conference on Friday, November 17, 2017.

This panel of in-house, outside, and investor counsel provided practical advice for arbitrator selection and effective cross-examination strategies for key witnesses in FINRA customer arbitrations, including customers, financial advisers, and suitability experts. The panel also addressed the fiduciary duty standard, including the impact of the Department of Labor’s fiduciary rule and related litigation strategies.

The Women in Litigation Joint Conference included an opening plenary session in which female general counsel shared their views and advice about how to help women develop critical skills to succeed. The conference also included a full day of cutting-edge plenaries and four separate programming tracks addressing trial advocacy skills, business development, insurance, securities litigation, and product liability issues.
