Faegre Drinker announced today that Stephanie Albrecht has joined the firm’s labor and employment practice as counsel in the Los Angeles office. Albrecht brings more than a decade of experience, having served as counsel at international law firms and as Deputy Attorney General for the California Department of Justice. Her arrival continues the firm’s growth on the west coast, following partners Heather Burke and Tom Pack in San Francisco this year.
Albrecht represents employers of all sizes in strategically resolving complex employment law matters. She has represented financial institutions, accounting firms, tech companies, retailers, health care organizations and hospitality companies in federal and state class actions, Private Attorneys General Act representative actions and single-plaintiff matters.
Albrecht has extensive experience compelling wage-and-hour matters to arbitration, defeating class certification, and obtaining dismissal through dispositive motion practice. She has successfully defended clients in sensitive single-plaintiff matters involving claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination and failure to accommodate claims, often resolving these matters early and on favorable terms.
"Stephanie’s broad experience—from high-stakes class actions to single-plaintiff matters – will complement our deep bench in California and our commitment to delivering strategic solutions for clients facing complex employment law matters," said Helen Tuttle, leader of Faegre Drinker’s labor and employment group. "Her collaborative approach and dedication to both client service and associate development make her a perfect fit for our team. We’re thrilled to welcome Stephanie and look forward to her contributions to our clients and our culture."
Albrecht helps clients minimize exposure by assisting them with developing appropriate policies, employee handbooks and best practices. She also conducts internal investigations involving employment and other regulatory issues, including potential violations of securities laws, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and anti-money laundering laws. She has advised on investigations by the U.S. Department of Labor, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, California Civil Rights Department, U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Albrecht earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles before receiving her Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School.
