Global Pharmaceutical Company Completes I-9 Audit, Ensures E-Verify Compliance

United States - Connecticut

A global pharmaceutical company entered into an I-9 audit to ensure compliance with federal regulations concerning identification and U.S. work authorization for every current employee. The audit uncovered major areas for remediation and identified target areas for improved HR training. This client also used the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s internet-based system (E-Verify) that allows employers to electronically verify the employment eligibility of a newly hired employee.

Our firm guided the company through this audit to identify areas of noncompliance, advised on appropriate remediation efforts, and identified gaps in employee and manager training that led to the noncompliance. During the I-9 audit, we also ensured the client was maintaining the appropriate documentation in the use of the E-Verify system. Guidance from our firm prevented the client from the possibility of discrimination and retaliation claims and civil fines from several government agencies.
