Overview

Andrew Koehler represents clients facing sophisticated, high-stakes disputes in federal and state courts across the United States. He has played roles in complex multidistrict litigation, medical device and pharmaceutical defense, manufacturing and construction defect matters, and emerging technology cases. Andrew is known for his relentless work ethic, collaborative approach, and commitment to delivering strategic and practical solutions for clients.

Andrew’s practice is uniquely informed by his prior experience as a mental health therapist. Before entering law, Andrew provided counseling to children and families and worked on the front lines of the opioid epidemic in addiction crisis centers. This background gives him a steady, empathetic demeanor and a deep appreciation for the human side of litigation. He is always looking for ways to integrate his therapeutic skill set — actively listening, crisis navigation, and trust building — into his advocacy for clients and teamwork with colleagues.

Product Liability, Mass Torts, & Consumer Protection

Andrew defends large corporations in multidistrict and single-plaintiff litigation involving product liability, mass tort, and consumer protection claims. He has taken on leading roles in several matters, including independently managing cases and key aspects of litigation while serving as primary point of responsibility on discovery and case strategy.

Discovery, Depositions & Trial Preparation

Andrew has extensive experience managing fact and expert discovery, including preparing for and attending depositions of plaintiffs, treating physicians, corporate representatives, and experts. He has taken depositions of percipient and third-party fact witnesses and has assisted with expert discovery and trial preparation, including bellwether case development in high-profile national multidistrict litigations and California Judicial Council Coordination Proceedings.

Motions Practice & Case Resolution

Andrew drafts dispositive motions and other pleadings and has negotiated favorable resolutions for clients, including leading settlement negotiations in Fair Credit Reporting Act matters and securing voluntary dismissals with prejudice. He is experienced in navigating fast-moving cases through resolution while maintaining a strategic, detail-oriented approach.

Thought Leadership, Community Engagement, & Mentorship

Andrew authors client alerts and thought leadership pieces on Florida civil procedure and other legal developments relevant to corporate defense interests. He has spoken on litigation practice, legal writing, and emerging legal issues, and has organized continuing legal education programs. Andrew has also been invited by members of the federal judiciary to speak with judicial interns about litigation careers and clerkships and is committed to mentoring law students and contributing to the Southwest Florida legal community.

Prior Experience

Andrew was a judicial clerk for the Honorable Kyle C. Dudek in the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida, where he prepared legal research memos and drafted opinions. Andrew was also a student law clerk at a competing law firm, where he worked in areas related to business, real estate, land use, and construction law. As a summer intern with the United Sates Air Force at Eglin Air Force Base, Andrew helped JAGs prepare for oral arguments, presented legal research, and provided drafting assistance. In his prior career as a therapist, he developed many of the perspectives that inform his daily practice, including passionate, client-centered advocacy and the inherent dignity of every person.

Personal Interests

Andrew is always game for a challenge — whether that means a complex product liability case or a marathon board game night. He enjoys reading, fitness, and spending time year-round in the beautiful Florida outdoors, accompanied by his wife, two children, and their goldendoodle. Andrew believes there’s no better way to strategize than with fresh air and family by his side — and that every good litigator knows when to roll the dice, when to play it safe, and when to bring snacks.
