Overview

Wagma Gharwal advises banks, trust companies and other financial institutions in their capacities as trustees, agents, servicers and administrators in new transactions, offerings and related matters. She also has many years’ experience in complex transactional contracting.

Corporate Trusts

Wagma focuses her practice on corporate trust transactions, including reviewing, negotiating and drafting complex agreements for large financial institutions and corporate trustees. She drives deal success throughout the contract lifecycle. Wagma provides guidance that benefits and protects clients’ interests while also empowering their revenue growth.

In particular, Wagma focuses on structured finance transactions and other corporate trust transactions, including residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS), asset-backed securities (ABS), commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) and related finance facilities.

She has a strong ability to problem-solve and come up with creative solutions and practical strategies for complex transactions. A strong and sophisticated communicator, Wagma is noted by clients and colleagues for building trusting relationships with business stakeholders.

Prior Experience

For six years, Wagma was in-house at payment and data company Deluxe Corp., where she served as director of contract strategy and management. She was responsible for the contract strategy function, guiding a team of contract negotiators across all business segments in contract review and negotiation. In prior roles, Wagma was co-founder and chief operations officer of legal tech startup LegalQ and worked as an immigration attorney where she represented individuals and corporations in a variety of family-based and employment-based immigration matters.

Personal Interests

In her free time, Wagma enjoys cooking, playing tennis and spending time with her family. She also loves walking around the many lakes of Minneapolis with her dog, Peach.
