Overview

Royal Farley counsels clients in the investment management industry, including investment companies, boards of directors and investment advisers. He brings a consistent track record of supporting highly regulated organizations in managing governance, third-party contracts and marketing efforts to key stakeholders.

Prior Experience

Before joining Faegre Drinker, Royal gained experience in legal support, corporate compliance and contract management. As a summer associate with the firm for consecutive summers in 2023 and 2024, he assisted in drafting SEC filings, service agreements, website privacy policies, and helped identify investment risks for fund clients.

Before pivoting to his legal career, Royal worked in marketing at AARP, one of the nation’s largest nonprofit member organizations. There, he partnered with legal, procurement and product teams to manage third-party contracts, govern the use of customer data, and oversee trademark and copyright compliance across digital properties. He also co-founded and participated in several angel investing syndicates, where he sourced deals, drafted contracts, raised funds, and provided strategic and operational support to portfolio companies. Additionally, he held prior roles in account management and marketing strategy at The Advisory Board Company, managing national engagement campaigns to support contract renewals across the company’s health system portfolio.

Personal Interests

Outside of the office, Royal enjoys exercising, reading, independent films, and spending quality time with his family and friends.
