Overview
Emma DeLaney Strenski counsels clients in product liability and mass tort litigation, as well as in commercial and contract disputes. She also has deep experience representing nationwide technology clients in product liability disputes.
Product Liability & Mass Tort Litigation
Emma defends national and international product manufacturers in product liability matters. She has particular experience representing medical device producers in nationwide litigation. Emma has taken numerous depositions, represented clients in court conferences and hearings, and prepared numerous motions and pleadings, effectively advocating clients’ positions clearly and concisely.
Social Media Litigation
Emma has extensive experience representing social media platforms, and has led the team’s efforts through more than a year and a half of discovery. Specifically, she coordinated and helped manage the affirmative discovery workup of 30 potential bellwether case teams in the Social Media Adolescent Addiction / Personal Injury Products Liability multidistrict litigation (MDL) and Judicial Council Coordination Proceedings (JCCP) in California. This work included creating databases and managing reviews of hundreds of thousands of documents, leading medical-record collection efforts with vendors, and scheduling and managing attorneys taking 150+ depositions nationwide. Throughout this litigation, she developed positive working relationships with clients, across Faegre Drinker practice teams, with co-defendants’ counsel, and with opposing counsel, aiming to move cases forward effectively.
Pro Bono Practice
Since joining Faegre Drinker, Emma has helped create the Sentence Modification Project. Her team has helped youthful violent offenders receive sentence modifications through new relief granted by the Indiana Legislature in July 2023. She has prepared expert witnesses to testify and conducted a direct examination of a character witness during a sentence modification hearing. Emma enjoys this pro bono work and is committed to pursuing positive results for clients, often helping with their reentry plans as well.
Prior Experience
Emma joined the firm after excelling as a summer associate at Faegre Drinker. She also had more than a decade of experience in various nonattorney roles at a boutique plaintiff’s litigation firm in Indianapolis. During law school, Emma served as a full-time summer judicial extern for Judge Thomas M. Durkin of the Northern District of Illinois.
Prior to law school, Emma was a Fulbright student researcher, studying the history of conflict and its resolution in Bosnia and Herzegovina at the University of Sarajevo Faculty of Political Science.
At the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Emma was an NCAA, Division 1, Big 10 scholarship student athlete in rowing.
Personal Interests
Outside the office, Emma enjoys travel, Balkan food, crafting, podcasts and audiobooks, exercising, rowing, golf, Formula 1 racing, and walking her golden retriever.
