Overview

Kristina Coleman is a well-rounded litigator who supports medical device, consumer product, sports and higher education clients through all phases of complex civil litigation. Kristina’s experience clerking at both the trial and appellate levels informs her practical, detail-oriented approach to litigation and positions her to anticipate and navigate challenges at every stage. She enjoys collaborating closely with clients to understand their goals and develop strategies tailored to the bigger picture.

Kristina’s representative experience includes:

  • Represents a large university in Title IX and state law negligence litigation.
  • Defends a consumer products company in Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and state law tort cases.
  • Coordinated and helped manage the defensive discovery team in a mass tort matter involving a national sports league.
  • Led settlement negotiations for a large consumer products manufacturer in litigation ranging from personal injury to business disputes.
  • Served on a trial team that defended a client in a weeks’ long trial involving product liability claims against a medical-device manufacturer.
  • Served on a trial team that defended a technology company in complex litigation alleging privacy concerns.
  • Part of the team that drafted an appellate brief seeking reversal of a discovery ruling that would have allowed high-ranking executives of a large sports entity to be deposed without consideration of their unique role in the organization. The discovery ruling was ultimately reversed.
  • Managed a mass tort litigation involving claims against a hospital in northern Indiana.

Prior Experience

Kristina’s inside experience clerking at state and federal courts is rare. She clerked for Judge Doris L. Pryor — both on the Seventh Circuit and in the Southern District of Indiana — drafting opinions and orders, preparing bench memoranda analyzing parties’ briefs and suggesting actions for the court, and reviewing petitions for rehearing. Immediately following law school, she clerked for Judge Sheryl Lynch in the Marion County Circuit Court, drafting proposed orders, preparing research memoranda and analyzing quiet title cases for statutory compliance. During law school, Kristina served as a judicial extern for Justice Steven H. David in the Indiana Supreme Court, conducting legal research and preparing criminal transfer memoranda. She also served as a judicial extern for Judge Heather Welch in the Marion County Superior Court, assisting with civil and commercial court matters.

After joining Faegre Drinker as an associate, Kristina’s inside experience was extended to serving as a secondment attorney at Eli Lilly, where she strategized with inside and outside counsel on a variety of litigation, including product liability and contractual claims.

As a summer associate at the firm, Kristina assisted attorneys with drafting an amicus brief to the Supreme Court of the United States, conducted legal research and drafted pleadings for pro bono cases.

Personal Interests

Outside the office, Kristina enjoys spending time with family and catching up on the latest TV shows and movies.
