Reeya Thakrar Featured in Law.com’s ‘How I Made Partner’ Series

In a Q&A article with Law.com, intellectual property partner Reeya Thakrar discussed her path to partnership at Faegre Drinker and reflected on the resilience, perspective, and relationships that have shaped her career. She advised younger attorneys to quiet self-doubt and recognize that “the faster you can accept that you belong in the room, the faster you can develop your confidence and move forward without sweating the small stuff.”

Thakrar noted that the path to partnership can involve factors outside an associate’s control, but emphasized the importance of owning the factors within one’s influence and doing them well. She also highlighted the value of building a practice larger than oneself through long-term relationships with clients, colleagues, and others across the legal industry.

Thakrar’s practice focuses on technology transactions, artificial intelligence and intellectual property matters, including software licensing, SaaS/cloud services, outsourcing, joint development ventures, website and mobile app terms of use, AI policies, third-party vendor agreements, and IP and technology due diligence for M&A transactions. “My day-to-day client matters all involve the intersection of technology, business, and the law,” she said, adding that she is helping teams evaluate AI tools and solutions while staying engaged in conversations about the future of the legal industry.

She also discussed lessons learned along the way, including influences on her career, work-life balance, and the importance of resilience, client service, and continued professional growth.
