Sari Long Discusses Immigration Policies to Track in the Second Half of 2026 With Law360

In an article for Law360, labor and employment partner Sari Long discussed key immigration policy issues that attorneys should have on their radar in the second half of 2026.

Long shared that she expects U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to focus more heavily on administrative enforcement actions, including I-9 audits. She observed that ICE is accelerating the fraud-focused portion of I-9 audits, notifying employers of suspected fraudulent identification or work authorization documents in as little as two weeks after a notice of inspection. Previously, Long said, such notices often took six months or longer to arrive.

"We are getting much faster turnaround on notices of suspect documents," said Long.
