Corporate partner Melanie Wadsworth, associate Paige Le Brocq, and trainee solicitor James Ford co-authored an article for Thomson Reuters Regulatory Intelligence titled, “Greenwashing and governance: the expanding ESG liability landscape.”
The article examines the main developments shaping climate litigation in the UK and considers how robust governance and internal controls over environment, social, and governance (ESG) reporting and sustainability messaging can help mitigate the risk of greenwashing.
“ESG compliance is increasingly in focus for regulators, investors, and other stakeholders. Regardless of the associated challenges and frustrations, it should be a year-round priority for the board and high on the agenda for good corporate governance,” the authors conclude.
