Alexa Miller Discusses Employer Arrests Ordered by Federal Labor Agencies With Bloomberg Law

In “Arrests Ordered in Rare Labor Agency ‘Punch’ Over Defiance (1),” Bloomberg Law spoke to labor and employment partner Alexa Miller about separate cases involving the Department of Labor and the National Labor Relations Board where judges found business owners to be in contempt of court after repeatedly failing to comply with agency requests or mandates.

Miller said the rare agency requests for arrests could be seen as a compliance message to employers. “It’s almost making an example out of this case to remind employers again that they are expecting cooperation when they’re investigating or conducting an audit,” she added. “So, it is unusual, but it’s definitely noteworthy.”
