Brian Coleman Comments on NPC Trademark Transfer With The Washington Post

In “Rigged: The Undoing of America’s Premier Bodybuilding Leagues,” The Washington Post spoke to business litigation partner Brian Coleman regarding Jim Manion, president of the nonprofit NPC, transferring the trademark of the organization’s name to himself in 2015.

Trademark professionals noted that the transfer is equivalent to taking the whole company, including its goodwill and brand equity. “That is fundamental,” said Coleman. “With that assignment, you are the company.”
