Matthew Fontana Discusses Growth in Restrictive Covenant Suits With New Jersey Law Journal

Labor and employment associate Matthew Fontana talked to the New Jersey Law Journal about potential drivers of the rise in restrictive covenant suits, as well as the possible impact on the legal profession.

Fontana said he thinks the high rate of worker mobility is driving the growth in restrictive covenant suits and that such matters will continue to generate a lot of work for employment attorneys for the foreseeable future.

“My sense is it’s going to continue to be a busy area. So many states are legislating these issues and making it more and more difficult to draft enforceable agreements,” Fontana noted. “From a counseling standpoint and from a litigation standpoint, I think it’s going to be busy as this area of law continues to change.”
