IRA-to-IRA Transfers

Fred Reish and Joan Neri co-authored an article for PlanAdviser on how the DOL fiduciary rule impacts IRA-to-IRA transfers. The article explains that recommending a transfer from an existing IRA to an IRA managed by the adviser is fiduciary advice under the rule. As such, it requires a thoughtful, thorough and well-documented process and will, in most instances, require an exemption from the prohibited transaction rules.
