On August 27, 2009, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that the expiration date on Form I-9 has been extended until August 31, 2012.
In its announcement, USCIS reported that the Office of Management and Budget extended its approval of the form and that Form I-9 has now been amended to reflect a new revision date of August 7, 2009. USCIS also announced that employers can use Form I-9 that has either a revision date of August 7, 2009 or February 2, 2009.
