Protecting Software IP in the AI Era

Intellectual property partner Christina Huang joined a panel at the 2026 Intellectual Property Owners Association’s Annual Meeting in a session titled “Protecting Software IP in the AI Era.”

This session explored the evolving landscape of software IP protection across multiple IP regimes as software becomes more critical across technologies. The panelists discussed copyright protection for software and AI-generated code, inventorship considerations for AI-generated code, challenges and opportunities of trade secret protection as an alternative, post-Alice patent protection, and practical strategies and best practices for safeguarding innovation.
