Session 7 (Tuesday, February 8, 2022) – USP Revisions: How Could You be Affected?

(Available on Demand)

In September 2021, the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) issued a long-awaited Notice of Intent to Revise (NITR) for both USP Chapter <795> (nonsterile compounding) and USP Chapter <797> (sterile compounding). This NITR comes after the USP Appeals Panel granted appeals to USP’s prior revisions to Chapter <795> and USP Chapter <797> and ultimately remanded the chapters back to the Compounding Expert Committee for further stakeholder engagement. The proposed updates in the NITR will impact compounding practices around stability testing, beyond-use-dating and much more. Pharmacies and compounding facilities need to be prepared for the proposed revisions to USP Chapters <795> and <797>, as the new guidance may have a considerable impact on facility workflow and finances.

In this seventh session of Digital Health Insights, Amy Summers, PharmD, BCSCP, founder of Restore Health Consulting, joins Faegre Drinker Senior Associate Jonathan Keller to discuss the key changes proposed in the NITR to both USP Chapters <795> and <797> and present steps for assessing the potential impact on your compounding practice.
