Washington, D.C., partner and former Assistant Secretary of Labor for Employee Benefits Brad Campbell spoke at the Insured Retirement Institute’s Action18 Conference, a new conference designed to foster collaboration between the retirement income industry’s advocacy, legal, operations and technology communities. The conference took place from May 9 -11 in Washington, D.C.
Action18 covered the latest legal and regulatory developments, examined recent technological innovations, and explored how regulation and modernization work together in the retirement income industry. Topics included important SEC initiatives related to broker-dealers and investment advisers; standards of conduct, retirement security and the future of state insurance regulation; and technology utilization.
Brad spoke on a panel titled “A Conversation about the Department of Labor’s Retirement Security Regulatory Agenda,” along with Seth Harris, former Acting Secretary of Labor. Brad and Seth shared their insights and outlook for regulatory activity related to the retirement income industry, including review of the fiduciary rule and standards of conduct.
