Marilee Springer Named to “Women of Influence” List by Indianapolis Business Journal

Nonprofit organizations partner Marilee Springer was named to the 2020 “Women of Influence” list by the Indianapolis Business Journal. The “Women of Influence” program recognizes women who have risen to the highest levels of business, the arts, and community and public service in central Indiana.

Springer, a partner in the firm’s downtown Indianapolis office, serves as outside general counsel to charitable entities that provide services to families and their local communities. She told the publication that “I am incredibly blessed to serve charitable organizations that are making a meaningful impact on their local communities in areas like philanthropy, health care, education, economic mobility and racial justice.” Springer added, “If I can handle the legal and risk-management aspects of their business, then they can focus all of their efforts on delivering their essential services. So, by serving them, I feel a connection to their charitable missions.”

A dedicated member of her community, Springer serves through various volunteer roles and board positions. She is a board member of the Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation, Catalyst Trust of Indiana and Atlanta-based Thrivent Trust Co.

Springer also highlighted the important role that mentoring has played in her career, telling the Indianapolis Business Journal that “I am surrounded by a group of strong, successful women that have been by my side for my entire career. We’ve supported each other through every season of our professional and personal lives.” At Faegre Drinker, she has committed to serving as an adviser for one of the firm’s senior-level associates.

In her practice, Springer provides concierge-level service to tax-exempt organizations, social impact entities, donors and high net worth families, and quasi-governmental entities. She focuses on corporate, governance, tax and structuring issues, and her clients are served by lawyers across the entire Faegre Drinker platform. In the social impact space, Springer frequently advises clients on corporate social responsibility programs, impact investments and sophisticated grants, including program-related investments and mission-related investments.

Springer earned her bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and her Juris Doctor from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law.
