New US Counsel Rule For Foreign TMs Promises Sea Change

Chicago partner Darren Cahr and Chicago counsel Melissa Dillenbeck cowrote an article for Law360 titled “New US Counsel Rule For Foreign TMs Promises Sea Change.” The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office announced that, effective August 3, all foreign domiciled trademark applicants, registrants and parties to USPTO trademark proceedings will be required to retain U.S. counsel, which is expected to result in the most significant practical change to domestic trademark prosecution practice in years.
