Rob Rooney Brings Experience to Immigration & Global Mobility Team

Robert (Rob) Rooney has joined Faegre Baker Daniels as an associate in the firm’s labor and employment group.

Rooney will focus on immigration and global mobility, working on U.S. business immigration-related matters, including many types of employment-based immigrant and nonimmigrant visas filed before the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and Customs and Border Protection.

Before graduating cum laude from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 2014, Rooney served as a legal extern with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Office of the Chief Counsel — Chicago. He also served as a judicial extern for the Hon. Rebecca R. Pallmeyer in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and a law clerk at a Chicago firm, preparing J-1 interested government agency waiver applications and extraordinary ability, outstanding researcher/professor, national interest waiver, and O-1 visa petitions for scientists and physicians.

After earning his bachelor’s degree cum laude from Northwestern University in 2001, Rooney worked as a case manager and legal/technical writer for a Chicago law firm. His experience included creating and developing models and legal approaches for employment-based immigrant and nonimmigration visa petitions.
