Overview
From impact investing to developing clean, environmentally friendly projects and initiatives, we help corporations, philanthropies, and individuals identify and execute on business practices and investment strategies that are both economically profitable and environmentally sustainable. We counsel clients at all stages of energy and sustainability project development, including screening, structuring, developing, and financing projects for hosts, developers, and investors. We evaluate energy and environmental regulatory issues, tax and governmental incentives, and business and contractual risks for energy and sustainability projects. We structure public-private partnerships and project financings, and we assist with integrating sustainability goals and requirements into energy procurements, projects, and enterprises. We defend lawsuits by activist groups seeking to hold energy companies liable for alleged damages from climate change, using our environmental, administrative law and litigation experience. And as companies contemplate becoming a benefit corporation or sustainable business, we’re here to help — we were intimately involved in the legislative process in many of the states that have authorized benefit corporations (B Corps), and we know the legal requirements necessary to attain B Corp status.
