Faegre Drinker Earns Top Rankings in Legal 500

The 2020 edition of The Legal 500 recommends Faegre Drinker’s Corporate, Investment Management, Intellectual Property, and Product Liability & Mass Torts practices in six categories, with two attorneys being recognized as “Leading Lawyers” or “Next Generation Lawyers.” Partner Michael P. Malloy was honored with inclusion in The Legal 500 Hall of Fame, which highlights partners who continually provide clients with excellent service and who are at the pinnacle of their profession.

Faegre Drinker is recommended under Investment Funds in the following categories: Alternative/Hedge Funds and Mutual/Registered/Exchange-Traded Funds. Partner Joshua B. Deringer was named as one of The Legal 500’s “Leading Lawyers,” while partner Jillian L. Bosmann was ranked as one of The Legal 500’s “Next Generation Lawyers” under the Mutual/Registered/Exchange-Traded Funds category.

Partner Michael P. Malloy was included in The Legal 500 Hall of Fame under the Mutual/Registered/Exchange-Traded Funds category. The criteria for entry is to have been recognized by The Legal 500 as one of the elite leading lawyers for six consecutive years.

The firm’s Corporate group was recommended under two categories: Capital Markets: Debt Offerings and M&A: Middle-Market ($500M-999M).

In the Capital Markets: Debt Offerings category, the firm is noted for its close links with several seasoned issuers, which ensures it is routinely involved in high-value debt issuances. The solid national group has a broad product focus and handles a wide range of public and private offerings, exchange offers and corporate governance issues.

In the M&A: Middle-Market ($500M-999M) category, the firm is noted for having a particularly strong reputation throughout the Midwest, though the team also handles M&A for public and private companies nationally and internationally. In terms of sector experience, the practice group has a track record of work in a variety of areas, including manufacturing, construction, food and agriculture, banking and financial services, insurance, life sciences, healthcare, and energy and natural resources.

Under the Intellectual Property category, the firm was ranked in Trade Secrets (Litigation and Non-Contentious Matters). One respondent noted that the firm fields a ‘very personable’ trade secrets team, which is a key part of the wider intellectual property group. Partner Lora Brzezynski was highlighted in the report, whom clients have described as ‘fantastic to work with’.

The firm’s Product Liability & Mass Torts team was ranked in Product Liability, Mass Tort and Class Action – Defense: Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices. The group is noted for having extensive experience in defending clients in the pharmaceutical and medical devices industries in complex mass torts. The team is also prominent in the developing area of Medicaid and consumer fraud claims, where it acts on behalf of state governments.
