Overview
Nonprofit and Tax-Exempt Organizations
Angela's practice includes advising clients on organizational formation, applications for tax-exempt status, governance policies, board and executive leadership matters, contracting, federal tax compliance, charitable registration and reporting obligations, and grant programs.
She also advises private foundations and public charities on domestic and international grantmaking, charitable giving, collaborations between nonprofit and for-profit entities, and the use of subsidiaries and affiliated organizations.
Corporate Governance and Strategic Counsel
Angela advises boards and senior leadership of nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations on governance and oversight matters, including fiduciary duties, conflicts of interest, board independence, executive oversight, governance structure, and regulatory risk management. She works closely with clients to develop strategies that support organizational effectiveness and long-term mission goals.
Prior Experience
Before joining Faegre Drinker, Angela was a senior health care associate at an Am Law 25 firm, where she served as transactional and regulatory counsel. Her experience includes advising nonprofit hospitals and health systems on corporate governance, operational policies, contracting, and related regulatory matters, as well as managing strategic transactions and affiliations, including membership substitutions, mergers, joint ventures, and other integration and alignment matters.
Personal Interests
Outside of the office, Angela enjoys cooking Greek food, making homemade ice cream, and traveling, especially to visit loved ones in Chicago, Albuquerque, and Ann Arbor. Since moving to the Twin Cities, her favorite activities include walking the Chain of Lakes with her dog and spending time at her in-laws' family farm.
