Overview
Ari Rutledge represents clients of all sizes across a range of industries in complex litigation matters, with a particular interest in privacy, white collar defense and investigations. She supports clients through all phases of litigation, including discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, and both written and oral advocacy. Ari brings a practical, detail-oriented approach to helping businesses navigate regulatory challenges and high-stakes disputes.
Prior Experience
Ari has a broad range of experience in local, state, and federal government roles where she has developed a detailed understanding of government operations and functions. She has a distinguished background in policy-oriented legal work, with a focus on civil rights, the commercial sector and legislative advocacy. Her work has consistently supported efforts aimed at advancing equity and community well-being through both legal and policy research roles.
She has worked extensively in investigative roles at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the New York State Division of Human Rights, where she investigated claims, conducted legal research and drafted decisions. Her policy experience includes positions with the New York State Assembly and a New York City Council campaign, where she contributed to legislative analysis, drafted policy memos and developed proposals tailored to stakeholder needs.
Ari also worked at a plaintiff-side civil rights litigation firm. This experience provided her with valuable insight into the plaintiff’s perspective, enhancing her ability to assess risk, anticipate strategies and approach litigation with a well-rounded understanding of both sides of a dispute.
In addition to her legal work, Ari has demonstrated a commitment to civic education and mentorship, serving as a debate coach in a constitutional law program for high school students and as a teaching assistant for various law school courses.
Ari worked for the firm as a summer associate in 2023.
