Kathryn E. M. Powell
Associate
Overview
Kathryn Powell keeps the business interests of clients front and center as she supports their construction and real estate needs.
Prior Experience
Kathryn developed a strong foundation in legal research and legislative process through roles with Vanderbilt University, the Indiana Senate Democrats and the Perry Township Small Claims Court. As a research assistant to Professor Edward K. Cheng, Hess Chair in Law at Vanderbilt, Kathryn analyzed hundreds of federal court documents to study the use of special verdicts in trials, providing data-driven insights for ongoing scholarship.
Earlier, Kathryn served as a legal intern for the Indiana Senate Democrats, where she drafted and tracked legislative amendments and resolutions, conducted legal research, and supported senators during the legislative session. She also gained practical experience at the Perry Township Small Claims Court, assisting with docket organization, public inquiries and daily court operations.
Personal Interests
Outside of the office, Kathryn is a history and music buff. When she isn’t reading about American history, she is playing one of her many instruments — she plays the piano, violin and viola, among others, and she once played at Carnegie Hall with a symphony orchestra. And, when the weather is nice, Kathryn also enjoys playing pickleball, hiking and rollerblading.
