Overview

Shawn Podowski counsels clients in litigation and dispute resolution.

Prior Experience

Before joining the firm, Shawn gained diverse legal experience through internships and judicial externships, clinical work and editorial leadership. As a summer associate with the firm in 2024, he analyzed and wrote memoranda on complex litigation issues, drafted litigation materials, and supported attorneys in hearings and client communications. His judicial externship with the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois included drafting judicial opinions and observing daily courtroom proceedings.

During law school, Shawn advocated for prisoner rights as a student attorney in the WashU Law Appellate Clinic. He researched civil rights issues and briefed appeals before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fourth and Eighth Circuits. As a research assistant, Shawn contributed to scholarship in criminal procedure and property law. As the managing editor of the Washington University Law Review, he oversaw the journal’s publication process and managed its 110 student members.

Prior to law school, Shawn worked as an immigration law paralegal.

Personal Interests

Outside of the office, Shawn enjoys cooking, amateur woodworking, weightlifting and competing in bar trivia.
