Overview

Matthew Moreland counsels clients in a wide range of state and federal litigation, with a concentration on complex commercial litigation, class actions and dispute resolution.

Prior Experience

During law school, Matthew served as the executive editor of the Journal of Corporation Law and competed for Iowa’s National Moot Court Team. As part of the moot court program, Matthew argued a moot case in front of the Iowa Supreme Court as part of Iowa’s Supreme Court Day Showcase and won awards for best oral advocate and top brief in various competitions. Matthew also gained significant hands-on legal experience during his summers and part-time during the school year drafting briefs and memos at the trial and appellate levels for a Des Moines law firm.

Before law school, Matthew was a legal assistant at a small Des Moines-based law firm and did volunteer work for local legal aid organizations. His pre-law experience also includes regulatory compliance work for home mortgages, property insurance, and working on a production line at a local brewery.

Personal Interests

Outside of the office, Matthew enjoys travelling, cooking, playing tennis, exploring new local restaurants and shops, and spending time with his two cats.
