Overview

Patton Lu advises clients across a range of industries throughout all phases of litigation. He offers guidance through written and oral advocacy, discovery, motions, and trial preparation.

Litigation & Dispute Resolution

Patton’s areas of focus include commercial litigation, financial and securities litigation, and corporate governance litigation. He assists on matters in a variety of ways, including drafting dispositive motions, researching case law, discovery support, and trial preparation.

International Arbitration & International Law

Patton represents international clients and has assisted with various commercial disputes venued in international arbitral institutions, including the American Arbitration Association–International Centre for Dispute Resolution (AAA-ICDR) and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). He continually follows developments in these and other arbitral institutions. Patton has also extensively studied and researched bodies of international law, conventions, and treaties, including the Hague Convention, United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG), UNCITRAL Model Law, and UNIDROIT Principles of International Contract Law.

Prior Experience

Before joining Faegre Drinker, Patton had a legal internship with the Lawyers Alliance for New York. In this role, he drafted intake memos in relation to pro bono work requests; followed and alerted clients to changes in New York nonprofit law; and researched the legalities of attorney-client relationships between legal service organizations, volunteer attorneys, and their potential clients.

Patton was a summer associate with the firm in 2023.

Personal Interests

Outside of the office, Patton enjoys health and fitness activities, including weightlifting, soccer, and ultimate frisbee. He also enjoys cooking and listening to food-related podcasts, particularly ones hitting on hot topics in the culinary scene and discussing the history of food in different cultures.
